GLO Save Texas History Symposium - Bridles & Biscuits

  • Bullock Texas State History Museum Austin, TX (map)

The Save Texas History Symposium, hosted by the Texas General Land Office, is an annual gathering of scholars, educators, and public historians dedicated to advancing the understanding of Texas history.

This year’s theme, “A Lone Star Among Many: Texas and the Making of America,” explores the dynamic relationship between Texas and the broader American story—highlighting the people, places, and global influences that shaped both.

My part of the program will focus on my book, BRIDLES AND BISCUITS: Contraband Culture in Spanish East Texas, which was recognized with the Presidio La Bahía Award. I hope to provide a compelling perspective on Spanish East Texas and the broader Atlantic world.
